The Last Song

When?: February 28, 2011
Top: GAP
Jeans: GAP
Heels: Steve Madden
Belt: J. Crew
Necklace: Custom

Who remembers the All American Rejects? On the last day of every month, I get the song "The Last Song" stuck in my head. I'm not sure why, maybe because of the correlation between the last song and the last day of the month? Yeah, I'm awesome like that.

This outfit. I like it. I normally don't wear black with blue because I don't want to look like a bruise (ha! I'm funny too) but I like the shoes with the top. I like the belt and the necklace as well because in my mind, they tie the outfit together. As much as I want to be finished with my 30 for 30, I HAVE been trying new things together. Which I suppose is the entire point, eh?

Cloudy Skies

When?: February 27, 2011
Where?: Church
Top: GAP
Skirt: Old Navy
Belt: Old Navy
Necklace: Anthropologie
Earrings: Anthropologie
Boots: Steve Madden

"This is a good outfit." That's what Matt said to me this morning. He even smiled when he said it, so he must be serious so I'll take it. This morning we went up and went to church and now we are back here Craigslisting stuff for the apartment. Unfortunately I work at three and Matt works at four, so we don't get the afternoon to lounge around. Money, on the other hand, is a great thing, so I'm glad we have jobs where we get hours.

On another note, can you believe that tomorrow is the last day of February? I'm in disbelief at how fast this year is already going, but Matt just says, "Eh." about it. Silly boys. What do they know?

8 Months

When?: February 26, 2011
Where?: Live Oak Brewing Company
Dress: GAP
Jacket: Hollister
Scarf: Sister Ariel
Boots: Steve Madden
Purse: Fossil
Beer: Live Oak Big Bark Amber

Oh my gosh, you guys. We have so much to talk about! Ready?

1. Today Matt and I have been married 8 months. Time has flown by!
2. Today we celebrated our 8 months by going to Live Oak Brewing Co. and getting a ton of free beer. Hooray!
3. We almost had a near death experience today. We were forced to scrape the side of the curb on the frontage road when some lady in a blue Toyota Prius decided it was a great idea to merge over without looking. I'm pretty sure she still has no idea she almost made us crash.
4. I bought tickets to L.A. for MOH Ashley's wedding in May. SO EXCITED!
5. As you know, we've been apartment hunting and have now been approved at the complex we wanted. Hooray! We move in March 24.
6. I'm behind with my 30 for 30. Way behind. And all of this apartment whatnot (we shopped ALL day for stuff yesterday) is distracting me. I'm sorry. Maybe I'll just put on 14 more outfits and take pictures of them all. Great idea, no?

Okay, now that I have that all out of the way, let's talk about this outfit and my lack of pictures. We took these inside the brewery, and try as he might, poor Matt had a difficult time with the lighting. It was pretty dark in there. It could have been the beer though. Seriously. They gave us approximately 36 ounces of beer. Eek!  It was delicious though. Thanks, Live Oak! I wore this dress for the comfort level, and I'm so glad I brought the jacket because it was coooold. My favorite part of this outfit is my new scarf though. Sister #2 (Ariel) made it for me! Isn't it to die for? I love it. Ariel, if you're reading this... I might try to get you to make me more. It's my new favorite!

Of Jewels and Metal

Posted by: Ashley

I love jewelry. There's no doubt about it. I can't afford to buy a lot of jewelry. There's no doubt about that either. So, in honor of my love for it, I'm dedicating this post to all the lovely jewelry out there. Here are some of my current favorites.

Let's start with a lovely bracelet from Banana Republic. I love it because of it's simplicity, yet it still has that added element of interest with it's color:

Earrings. I love them. I don't have many unfortunately, but someday that will (hopefully) change. Here are a few that I love right now.

LOVE these last ones. They are so adorable!:

Necklaces. The way to my heart. I love bold necklaces so luckily they are in style right here. Check out these glorious things!

Lovely necklace, too expensive though!:

And one ring to round out this post:

Hope you enjoyed the eye candy! I love them. Not as much as I love... say Matt, but I still love them.

Don't Rain On My Parade

Posted by: Ashley

When?: February 22, 2011
Where?: Apartment hunting
Top: Gran's Closet
Jeans: GAP
Scarf: GAP
Belt: J. Crew
Boots: Steve Madden
Watch: Fossil

Lea Michele is amazing. Her singing Don't Rain On My Parade acapella is even more amazing. This song is in my head, mostly because as Matt was running out the door to work he said, "Sorry our budget rained on our parade." Which is did. But such is life. Tightening up the belt has to happen. Goodbye new necklaces, goodbye frozen yogurt. I will miss you, but in the end it will be worth it.

Pretty simple outfit tody, but I've never worn my scarf like this, so I decided today was the day to try it. I like it. Matt said it looks like I'm wearing a vest, but it's awesome because I didn't actually have to buy a vest. Oh, my silly husband. Look at him and off of his cuteness:

Suddenly Stripes

When?: February 21, 2011
Where?: Chillaxin'
Top: Macy's
Skirt: Anthropologie
Boots: Steve Madden
Belt: Anthropologie
Earrings: Anthropologie
Necklace: Gran's Closet

Happy Monday! I hope everyone's day was as fulfilling as mine was. I worked 9.5 hours, hung out with a friend and learned about a new business. Now I'm sitting here, typing to the Internet, waiting for my husband to get home and planning out the trip to the 4 apartment complexes we're going to tomorrow. Life is good. God is great.

This belt is quickly becoming one of my favorite belts with this skirt. I really need to go get the skirt altered, but for the time being, the belt does a great job of holding it up. There was nothing spectacular about my outfit today, but I did get a few comments on it, so that's always nice. Day 14. Almost half way through the challenge. I talked to Matt about giving up on it yesterday, but I'm going to stick with it. Mostly because I still remember my parents drilling it into my head that I can't be a quitter. Thanks, folks.

Today was sunny and a gorgeous 80 degrees. So sunny in fact that (surprise!) I couldn't see outside. Enjoy:

Bathroom Blues

Posted by: Ashley

When?: February 20, 2011
Where?: A friend's Mary Kay par-tay
Dress: GAP
Boots: Zigi Soho
Necklace: Anthropologie

Yep. I took pictures in our bathroom. Bathroom pictures were an every weekend occurrence in college, but I don't know if I've taken them in once since. It was dark when I got home and so I had to have Matt snap photos of me inside... which isn't very easy when you have a room with bad lighting and a house with no bare walls. Oh well, such is life.

This is the first appearance of this dress on the blog/30 for 30. It's a great dress. That's all I can say about it. Pair it with the necklace and some awesome boots and you have yourself an outfit. Wham, bam, thank you ma'am.

bowling!

The fact that my shoes look like bowling shoes is just a coincidence. I still had to rent the ugly ones they give you at the bowling alley. I'm glad I dressed nicely for the occasion and all, but that stuffy, low ceiling building with the screaming kids and ten thousand pizzas made for an interesting kind of night. And when I say interesting, I mean we had a sick kid who threw up on my new shirt and I was a horrible bowler. (spelling?) Anyway, family fun night is always great because the adults get to sit back and enjoy watching the little ones chase each other around and find their hidden talent. My niece has a knack for bowling. She didn't take after her aunt. That's for sure. I'm excited I was able to get these pictures taken INSIDE on my PHONE. How advanced is that? Robert liked it too. All he had to do was sit the laptop down for about three minutes and click away from the kitchen. I uploaded them all via Droid, but had to get on the computer to type. Pretty impressive, I think. Ok... back to my eventful existence.

Everything in Bloom

Posted by: Ashley

When?: February 18, 2011
Where?: Doing some whatnot
Top: GAP
Jeans: GAP
Scarf: GAP
Boots: Zigi Soho
Watch: Fossil

Everything here is not in bloom, but my scarf makes me wish it were. How is everyone? After working two 10 hour shifts in a row, it feels weird to be sitting here typing on the blog. I'm still fighting a cough and I'm losing my voice, but other than that I feel okay. Matt and I have started looking for apartments (yay!) so today we went and viewed one.

I have a feeling I'm going to start running out of 30 for 30 outfits soon. I guess it's time to get creative. I love this scarf from GAP because of it's print, and I liked it with the print from the GAP shirt I'm wearing. I'm pretty sure I need to wash my jeans because they are getting quite stretched out and I had to wear a belt today. I'm pretty sure I'm starting to ramble, so I'm going to lay on Matt while watching Breaking Bad and then in about an hour and a half enjoy the chicken he's roasting. I'm so lucky to have a husband who feeds me.
